[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] On the 23rd, the Ministry of Commerce of China announced that it has initiated a new anti-dumping investigation on grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) imported from Korea, Japan, and the European Union (EU).
This investigation follows the expiration of the five-year term of the anti-dumping duties imposed on July 23, 2016.
Through this investigation, the Chinese government authorities will decide whether to extend the anti-dumping duties for another five years. The investigation is expected to be completed before July 23 of next year.
Korean company POSCO was previously subject to a 37.3% anti-dumping duty five years ago, but avoided paying the duty by making a price commitment and raising export prices.
