Sokcho City to Raise Social Distancing to Level 3 Starting from the 24th

Proactive Blocking of Balloon Effects in the Capital Region and Nearby Cities and Counties

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Sokcho City, Gangwon Province, will raise social distancing from the current Level 2 to Level 3 from 0:00 on the 24th until August 1.

According to the city on the 23rd, the decision to upgrade to Level 3 social distancing was made proactively to block the balloon effect caused by the fourth wave of the Delta variant in the metropolitan area and the spread of confirmed cases in adjacent cities and counties such as Gangneung and Yangyang.

With the upgrade to Level 3, in addition to the ban on private gatherings of five or more people under the strengthened Level 2 measures, multi-use facilities such as entertainment venues, colateks, holdem pubs, karaoke rooms, and bathhouses will be restricted from operating after 10 p.m., and restaurants and cafes will only be allowed takeout and delivery after 10 p.m.

On the same day, the city plans to hold a COVID-19 response meeting chaired by Mayor Kim Cheol-soo of Sokcho to discuss detailed measures for each sector following the social distancing upgrade.
