US Initial Jobless Claims at 419,000... Up 50,000 from Previous Week

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The number of new unemployment benefit claims in the United States, which had recorded its lowest level since the COVID-19 outbreak in Jeonju, surged by more than 50,000 in just one week.


According to the U.S. Department of Labor on the 22nd (local time), last week's new unemployment benefit claims totaled 419,000. This is an increase of 51,000 compared to the previous week. It also far exceeded the expected 350,000 claims.
