Among the First Incumbent Members of the People Power Party
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Among the current members of the People Power Party, the first declaration of support for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol has emerged.
On the 22nd, People Power Party lawmaker Lee Yang-su posted a lengthy message on his Facebook, saying, "I support Yoon Seok-yeol, the preliminary candidate."
Lee said, "The people were thirsty for new politics that could give them hope again," adding, "At that moment, there was one person who delivered a profound resonance to the people." He continued, "Although he gave up the comfortable path to power and honor as Prosecutor General during the Moon Jae-in administration, he fell, was torn, and broken, but ultimately did not compromise or surrender," and said, "The people were comforted and moved by watching Yoon Seok-yeol’s perseverance."
Lee went on, "Without joining a political party, he stood alone against the regime and used blunt language as he steadily entered the hearts of the people," mentioning, "It was not about conservative or progressive factional logic, nor about calculating votes while looking at the people, but rather a strong will to simply go where the people point."
He also said, "I am well aware that there are many excellent presidential candidates within the party," but emphasized, "We must properly support Yoon Seok-yeol, who embodies the people's desire to change the political paradigm through actions rather than words, to surely achieve a regime change."
He concluded, "I will wait for the day when Yoon Seok-yeol, the preliminary candidate, finds a definite plan for regime change and speaks to the people, and I will support him until the end."
