Operating a Talent Donation YouTube Channel Based on the Skills of Table Tennis and Badminton Teams
Takchyeo 9.6 Million Views, 38,000 Subscribers
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Samsung Life Insurance announced on the 22nd that the cumulative views of its sports-specialized YouTube channels, 'Takchyeo' and 'Kokchyeo,' have surpassed 10 million.
The table tennis channel 'Takchyeo' and the badminton channel 'Kokchyeo' are YouTube channels operated as a form of talent donation using the sports teams sponsored by Samsung Life Insurance.
Celebrating its second anniversary this March, 'Takchyeo' has accumulated 9.56 million views and over 38,000 subscribers since uploading the video "Yongin's Top Instructor! Table Tennis Legend Yu Nam-gyu Personally Teaching?" featuring Samsung Life Table Tennis Team coach Yu Nam-gyu in March 2019, achieving the third highest number of subscribers among domestic table tennis YouTube channels. 'Kokchyeo,' which debuted in the second half of last year, is structured in a seasonal format and currently has 570,000 cumulative views and 5,700 subscribers.
In particular, the 'Takchyeo' channel saw success by introducing new game content amid increased thirst for matches among amateur players due to recent restrictions on indoor sports activities. The amateur player competition series 'Takchyeoseu Tournament,' held since March this year, gained popularity through word of mouth, resulting in 1.3 million channel views between March and June, about 100,000 more than the same period last year.
It is analyzed that the foundation for Samsung Life Insurance's sports channels gaining a foothold among amateur players lies in the excellent capabilities of the Samsung Life sports teams. In fact, both 'Takchyeo' and 'Kokchyeo' channels involve the teams directly in channel operations. Each video, centered on one-point lessons and game content, features current and former star players who share practical skills and invite subscribers to compete in matches.
Encouraged by this response, Samsung Life Insurance plans to continue creating and uploading various content that players and amateur enthusiasts can develop together. The 'Takchyeo' channel will hold the second season of the 'Takchyeoseu Tournament' starting next month and plans to approach amateur players through a 'King of Kings' competition inviting winners from seasons 1 and 2 at the end of the year. Additionally, the 'Kokchyeo' channel will provide basic lesson videos for beginners newly interested in badminton after the Olympics under the title 'Koksabu Ilche.'
