Kolon Sports Signs MOU with Polar Research Institute for 'Antarctic Inland K-Route Exploration'

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kolon Industries FnC Division (hereinafter Kolon FnC), which operates the outdoor brand 'Kolon Sports,' announced on the 22nd that it has signed a mutual business agreement with the Polar Research Institute's Future Technology Development Department to develop clothing and supplies necessary for the 'Antarctic Inland K-Route Exploration.'

Kolon Sports has been part of the history of Korea's polar pioneering since it provided clothing to the research team at King George Island of the Sejong Station in 1988. Since then, it has supported projects of the Polar Research Institute including researchers at the South and North Pole stations, polar experience teams, and meteorite exploration teams. From 2012, it was selected as the official partner of the Polar Research Institute and has been developing and providing products necessary for polar environments. Since 2018, it has sponsored the Antarctic 'Korean Route (K-Route)' expedition team by supplying clothing and equipment needed for the expedition.

This business agreement includes providing clothing necessary for safe research activities until the completion of the K-Route exploration from the Jangbogo Station in Antarctica to the South Pole, as well as mutual cooperation such as field tests required for developing clothing and supplies needed in polar regions.

Park Sung-chul, Brand Manager of Kolon Sports, said, "Kolon Sports is a domestic outdoor brand with the highest technical skills, offering numerous functional products that can be worn even in harsh polar conditions, which is one of the important projects that carry the brand's identity." He added, "Kolon Sports will support the best clothing and supplies until the K-Route exploration is completed."
