[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Jin Air announced that starting from the 20th, it will begin Interline Airport Transfer Check-In (IATCI) services in cooperation with Delta Air Lines.
IATCI is a service designed for the convenience of transfer passengers, allowing all procedures such as seat assignment, boarding pass issuance, and baggage check-through to the final destination to be handled at once with a single check-in when using connecting flights between airlines that have an agreement.
From now on, Delta Air Lines passengers will only need to complete check-in at the departure airport, and when transiting through Incheon Airport, the additional check-in step at the transfer counter will be omitted. This simplifies movement within the airport and significantly reduces transfer time, making it easier to use Jin Air connecting flights. The connecting check-in service will be operated on interline routes between Jin Air and Delta Air Lines.
Meanwhile, Jin Air and Delta Air Lines have been operating an interline agreement on 18 international routes since July 2019. Interline refers to a partnership where multiple airlines sell routes operated by each airline under a single ticket.
Under the interline agreement, customers using Delta Air Lines can purchase itineraries that include transfers at Incheon Airport to Jin Air flights traveling to and from Asian countries. The interline routes operated by Jin Air in cooperation with Delta Air Lines include 18 routes departing from Incheon, such as Incheon~Hong Kong, Incheon~Taipei, and Incheon~Bangkok.
Jin Air stated, "Following the agreement with Korean Air last December, we have now signed an IATCI agreement with Delta Air Lines, and we expect to secure stable passenger transfer demand when international flights resume in the future." They added, "We will gradually secure differentiated future competitiveness in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era."
