Implementing 'Changing the World with ESG' in Digital Virtual Space
"Expecting Increased ESG Interest and Understanding Among the Youth Generation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LS Cable & System announced on the 20th that it will hold the 'LS Cable & System Minecraft ESG Contest' to help the younger generation, who are familiar with games, increase their understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
Minecraft is a game known as 'digital Lego.' Users can connect blocks in an online virtual space to create imaginative worlds. LS Cable & System has specially created blocks representing renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power, as well as cable blocks like submarine cables and superconducting cables, which are distributed for free through the Minecraft contest website.
Participants can submit their works through the website by using existing game blocks along with wind, solar, and cable blocks to depict a world transformed by ESG. The contest is open to those aged 30 or younger (born in 1991 or later), and submissions are accepted from August 26 to September 5. Prizes include 5 million KRW for one grand prize winner, 3 million KRW each for two excellence award winners, and 2 million KRW each for three encouragement award winners.
An LS Cable & System official said, "This contest was organized to raise interest and understanding of ESG among the younger generation."
