[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, has reopened after being closed for 9 months due to the spread of COVID-19.
According to AFP on the 16th (local time), the Eiffel Tower operating company (SETE) reopened the Eiffel Tower and allowed visitors to enter.
The Eiffel Tower was closed for about three months starting in March last year, then reopened, but was closed again last fall due to a resurgence of COVID-19.
This is the first time the Eiffel Tower has been closed for such a long period since World War II.
Although SETE reopened the Eiffel Tower on this day, elevator capacity was limited to 13,000 people, which is 50% of the full capacity, and wearing masks was mandatory.
The French government announced that starting from the 21st, visitors must present either a vaccination certificate or a negative COVID-19 test result to enter the Eiffel Tower.
According to SETE, elevator tickets for the first day of reopening were already sold out online.
