Gwangju Seo-gu Distributes 'Bangyeon Mask' to Multi-use Facilities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 16th that it has distributed 'fire evacuation smoke masks' to fire evacuation vulnerable groups and multi-use facilities within the district.

Seo-gu spent a budget of 40 million KRW to purchase about 860 hood-type fire evacuation smoke masks that are safe from toxic gases.

These smoke masks were distributed to 27 locations, including 18 administrative welfare centers in the district, the Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Sangnok Library, and were placed in easily identifiable locations for quick use in case of fire.

In the past three years, more than 73% of deaths caused by fires have been recorded as suffocation due to toxic gases, highlighting the importance of smoke masks.

To prevent such suffocation deaths, Seo-gu adopted and purchased hood-type smoke masks that provide facial protection and good visibility.

The smoke masks purchased this time include purifying cartridges, making it possible to evacuate safely from toxic gases in case of fire.

A Seo-gu official said, "We will make greater efforts to create a safe city Seo-gu where residents can protect their lives and prevent various incidents and accidents in the event of a disaster."
