"Ensuring Safe Seas and Becoming an Honest Maritime Police"
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Kyung-taek] Haman Sik has been inaugurated as the 25th Chief of the Jeonnam Yeosu Maritime Police Station.
The Yeosu Maritime Police Station announced on the 16th that the new Chief Haman Sik held an inauguration ceremony on the 15th at the second-floor conference room of the temporary office in Gukdong and has begun full-scale duties.
In his inaugural speech, Chief Ha stated, “Through thorough situation management, we will enhance on-site expertise and strengthen on-site command authority to create a rescue-centered work environment for a safe sea.”
He also urged, “To build a fair and transparent maritime police force trusted by the public, please join us in promoting fair law enforcement, organizational transparency and fairness, raising gender sensitivity, and spreading awareness of gender equality.”
Furthermore, he said, “Internally, we will strive to create an organizational culture of communication and harmony so that the maritime police can be strong and trusted on the ground.”
Chief Ha, born in Gwangyang, Jeonnam, completed his doctoral course in the Department of Marine Engineering at Korea Maritime University and joined the maritime police in 2000 as a cadre candidate (48th class).
He has held key positions including Head of Investigation Division at Seogwipo Maritime Police Station, Personnel Operations Team Leader at the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters, Audit Team Leader, Audit Officer, Maritime Police Liaison Officer at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Chief of Taean Maritime Police Station, and Academic Affairs Director at the Korea Maritime Police Education Institute.
