[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 16th, Jeonnam Gangjin-gun announced that Gangjin Medical Center (Director Jeong Ki-ho, Labor Union Branch Chief Shin Kyung-ok) deposited a donation of 10 million won on the 15th.

Since the 1st, Gangjin Medical Center has been conducting a voluntary sharing project called the "Love Donation Campaign" by its staff to give back the interest and love received from the local community during the COVID-19 situation.

This campaign originally planned to raise 10 million won over 14 days, but the target amount was reached within just 3 days of launching. The fundraising effort was especially meaningful as labor and management worked together with one heart, and about 100 employees participated.

Director Jeong Ki-ho said, "Gangjin Medical Center experienced operational difficulties to the extent that we could not even pay employees' salaries due to COVID-19, but we were able to overcome these challenges through the unity of labor and management and the interest and love of local residents. I believe this gratitude is reflected in this fundraising."

He added, "I deeply thank the employees who participated in the fundraising campaign, contributing amounts such as 365,000 won, symbolizing their commitment to care for the sick in the community every day of the year, and some even donating over 1 million won."

County Governor Lee Seung-ok expressed, "I send my gratitude and praise to the medical staff and employees who have worked tirelessly day and night to overcome COVID-19 as an infectious disease-dedicated hospital for a long time. The precious donation entrusted by Gangjin Medical Center will be used meaningfully for the underprivileged."

Meanwhile, since being designated as an infectious disease-dedicated hospital in February 2020, Gangjin Medical Center has been operating an infectious disease isolation ward to protect the safety of residents and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and provide prompt treatment. Despite difficult circumstances, it has practiced positive influence by participating annually in blood donation campaigns and blood donation certificate donation events.

Additionally, as a public medical institution serving six counties in the southwestern region of Jeollanam-do, it has established itself as a regional public hospital by expanding public medical services such as enhancing shared nursing rooms without guardians, operating emergency rooms in medically vulnerable rural areas, and supporting medical services for multicultural families and foreigners.
