[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Hwang Junhyun, Superintendent General (58), has been inaugurated as the 13th Chief of Seogwipo Maritime Police Station.
On the 15th, Chief Hwang held an inauguration ceremony at the Seogwipo Maritime Police Station auditorium, greeted the staff, and then received a briefing on the local security situation.
Originally from Hwasun, Jeollanam-do, Chief Hwang joined the maritime police as a patrol officer in 1986. He has served as the captain of the 253rd ship at Incheon Maritime Police Station (Inspector), head of the Intelligence and Investigation Division at Donghae Regional Maritime Police Agency (Chief Inspector), head of the Foreign Affairs Division at the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters (Superintendent General), spokesperson for the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters, and head of the Investigation Division at the Central Regional Maritime Police Agency.
Notably, he served as the Chief of Jeju Maritime Police Station in 2019, and is recognized as a figure with extensive field experience and expertise in maritime security within the province.
In his inauguration speech, Chief Hwang said, “I ask all members of Seogwipo Maritime Police, responsible for maritime security at the southernmost part of the country, to do their best in their respective positions to become a maritime police force trusted on the ground and respected by the public,” adding, “I will strive to make Seogwipo Maritime Police fair, communicative, and harmonious.”
Meanwhile, former Chief Do Gi-beom has moved to the position of head of the Investigation Planning Division at the Korea Coast Guard Headquarters.
