[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 16th, the government announced that it will provide masks and diagnostic kits to Korean nationals residing in Myanmar, where COVID-19 is spreading.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson's office stated, "Considering the severe spread of COVID-19 in Myanmar, the Ministry plans to support vulnerable Korean nationals in Myanmar with KF94 masks and rapid diagnostic kits."

As the COVID-19 situation in Myanmar continues to worsen, a national petition has been raised requesting help for the Korean community in Myanmar. The Myanmar military, lacking the capacity to control COVID-19, announced it will implement a lockdown next week.

Meanwhile, concerns are growing over the quarantine and safety of Korean nationals residing in Myanmar. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "At the request of the Korean Association in Myanmar, we plan to sequentially transport 26 oxygen generators via diplomatic pouches starting from the 20th."
