Shinsegae Duty Free supports music education and performances for the 'Heart Heart Orchestra,' composed of individuals with developmental disabilities, in collaboration with the Seocho Cultural Foundation.
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Shinsegae Duty Free announced on the 16th that it will support music education and performances for the 'Heart Heart Orchestra,' composed of individuals with developmental disabilities, in collaboration with the Seocho Cultural Foundation.
Shinsegae DF delivers sponsorship funds raised through the 'Hope Delivery Campaign,' a salary-sharing program in which employees participate monthly, to the Heart Heart Orchestra. These funds will be used to select seven members of the Heart Heart Orchestra who had fewer opportunities to perform as soloists, providing them with individual lessons from instructors including the concertmaster of the Seocho Symphony Orchestra and other members, as well as masterclasses from the artistic director. The program culminates in a collaborative performance with the Seocho Symphony Orchestra scheduled for September.
The Heart Heart Orchestra was founded in 2006 to help develop the talents and social participation of youth with developmental disabilities. It has carried out various activities to raise awareness of disabilities at venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and the Seoul Arts Center.
A representative from Shinsegae Duty Free stated, “We hope this initiative will help eliminate cultural blind spots and contribute to improving social awareness of individuals with developmental disabilities.”
