Record-Breaking Heatwave Forecast Drives Surge in Window Air Conditioner Sales

Tmon Reports 15-Fold Surge in Window Air Conditioner Sales Over the Past Two Weeks

Record-Breaking Heatwave Forecast Drives Surge in Window Air Conditioner Sales

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] TMON announced on the 16th that air conditioner sales over the past two weeks increased about fivefold compared to the same period last year, with window air conditioners in particular surging 15 times.

As the summer heat and tropical nights continue in earnest recently, air conditioner sales have significantly increased. Window air conditioners, which consumers can install themselves without a separate outdoor unit and are affordable, are gaining popularity. This is interpreted as a result of the record-breaking heatwave forecast and increased 'home-staying' and remote work due to COVID-19, which has increased the need for additional cooling units in each room even in homes where air conditioners are already installed.

On the 15th, TMON recorded sales of over 100 million KRW as about 300 units of Hanil Electric window air conditioners were sold in just 10 minutes. Lee Dong-ik, Head of TMON Digital Office, said, "With the increase in single-person households and home-staying, the need for cooling in each room has grown, leading to a surge in demand for portable and window air conditioners that are easy to install. Especially, products from small and medium-sized enterprise brands offer good quality and cost-effectiveness, resulting in high consumer satisfaction."

Meanwhile, TMON is holding a 'Summerplex Promotion' that categorizes various summer products to help overcome the heat, including summer home appliances. As a special benefit for this promotion, customers can receive an additional 10% discount when paying with Kookmin Card or Hana Card.
