Transformed into a complex facility including a community center, sports center, and urban regeneration center after 41 years... Construction started, scheduled for completion in December next year with 2 basement floors and 4 above-ground floors
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) announced on the 19th that construction has begun on the Muk 2-dong Culture and Sports Complex Center (Muk-dong 243-1), marking the start of its full development.
The Muk 2-dong community center, being renewed for the first time in 41 years, had become outdated over the long years, and residents experienced inconvenience due to a lack of facilities for recreational sports and cultural amenities.
In response, the district reflected residents' demands and planned to build a new complex center suited to the area's characteristics. Last April, the winning design was selected through a design competition, and the detailed design has been completed.
Upon completion scheduled for December next year, the center will be constructed with a total floor area of 3,499㎡, consisting of two basement levels and four above-ground floors, ready to serve the residents.
As its name suggests, the Muk 2-dong Culture and Sports Complex Center will feature various facilities encompassing administration, culture, and sports. It will include recreational sports facilities such as a multipurpose gymnasium and a fitness room, as well as spaces for cultural programs like a small library, cultural classrooms, a large auditorium, and multipurpose rooms.
Notably, on the first basement floor, the Urban Regeneration Support Center, a flagship project of Muk 2-dong, will be housed, which is expected to invigorate related initiatives.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “The Muk 2-dong Culture and Sports Complex Center, a long-cherished wish of the residents, will become a valuable space that helps local people engage in healthy leisure activities such as sports and cultural pursuits. We will continue to make every effort to expand public infrastructure so that residents can enjoy more comfortable civil services.”
