Large Banner with a Message of Hope Hung on the West Exterior Wall of Seoul Library
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 16th that it will hang a large banner with a hopeful message to the public, saying "It is a crisis again, but we will overcome it again," to overcome the crisis of the 4th wave of COVID-19, which is continuously breaking the record for the highest number of confirmed cases.
In response to the recent surge in confirmed cases, Seoul is expanding the operation of temporary screening clinics and mobile screening clinics, and is making every effort in quarantine, testing, and treatment by securing residential treatment centers and dedicated infectious disease hospital beds.
To quickly detect and respond to confirmed cases, Seoul has expanded the number of temporary screening clinics from 26 to 52 and extended their operating hours. Additionally, mobile screening clinics in densely populated areas such as Hongdae and Gangnam Station have been increased from 5 to 9 locations to prevent any inconvenience due to increased testing volume.
The number of residential treatment centers is also planned to be expanded from 15 centers (2,623 beds) in early July to 22 centers (4,529 beds) by the 20th, and additional centers will be continuously identified depending on the trend of confirmed cases to ensure timely treatment for patients. Furthermore, administrative orders prohibiting alcohol consumption at night in outdoor areas where many people gather, such as Hangang Park, have been issued, and quarantine management is being strengthened through guidance and enforcement.
Han Young-hee, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul City, said, "Seoul will do its best in quarantine so that the patience and efforts of citizens, exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 situation, will not be in vain," adding, "We will overcome this crisis once again together with the citizens."
