[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Chinese actor Wu Xiaoguang, husband of actress Chu Ja-hyun, has been embroiled in an affair scandal. In response, his agency denied the allegations, stating it was "an incident that occurred during the process of returning home after a gathering with acquaintances."
On the 15th (local time), Chinese media 'Sohu Entertainment' reported that Wu Xiaoguang was seen leaving a bar late at night with a woman after drinking. The media also released footage showing Wu Xiaoguang.
In the released video, Wu Xiaoguang is seen getting into a car with his group. During this, Wu Xiaoguang called a woman over. After he got into the car first, he sat the woman on his lap. The woman smiled while looking at her phone on Wu Xiaoguang's lap.
After the video was made public, Chinese netizens raised suspicions of an affair. They reacted with comments such as "He pretended to be a loving husband in front of everyone, so what happened?", "I thought they were a loving couple," and "This is so shocking."
As the controversy grew, BH Entertainment, the agency representing Wu Xiaoguang and Chu Ja-hyun, explained, "This was an incident that happened during the process of returning home after a gathering with acquaintances in May," adding, "The people appearing in the video are directors and close neighborhood acquaintances who also visit each other's families."
They continued, "Even if they are close acquaintances, we will be careful to avoid actions that could cause misunderstandings."
Meanwhile, Chu Ja-hyun and Wu Xiaoguang met while co-starring in the 2012 Chinese drama 'Maral: The Maral World of Happiness and Time,' began dating publicly in 2015, married in 2017, and had a son in 2018.
Notably, the couple gained great popularity in both Korea and China by appearing on the SBS variety show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny.'
