Lee Jae-myung "Kim Bu-seon's statements differ from objective facts"
Kim Bu-seon "Governor Lee never visited his nephew serving life imprisonment, fearing it would harm his career"
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Actress Kim Bu-seon exchanged heated words with Lee Jae-myung, the governor of Gyeonggi Province and a leading presidential candidate. Kim pointed out that Lee had never visited his nephew, who is in prison. Lee rebutted Kim's claim, saying it is difficult to prove the allegations are false and that her statements are misinformation.
On the 15th, Kim posted on her Facebook, stating, "I will correct and supplement a few facts," and refuted Lee's explanation regarding suspicions related to her, which he made during a radio broadcast the previous day (14th).
She said, "Lee Jae-myung, governor of Gyeonggi Province, has never visited his nephew, who is serving a life sentence for murder," and added, "I lost all respect when Lee said he avoids visits because his nephew needs to adapt to prison life, fearing it might hinder his future success." She further claimed, "Despite these facts, Lee Jae-myung is committing character assassination by labeling me as a mentally ill drug addict."
Earlier, Lee appeared on CBS Kim Hyun-jung's News Show to refute various allegations surrounding him and Kim. Responding to the host's remark that many articles related to the actress are being published, Lee said, "If someone claims something, it is impossible to prove that it is not true."
He continued, "She (Kim Bu-seon) apologized twice publicly, saying, 'This is not true. Sorry.' This even led to lawsuits. Four charges were filed, but all resulted in acquittals. The prosecutions were excessive. However, this case was not even prosecuted and was dismissed due to lack of evidence."
Regarding Kim's claim that she knows specific criminal charges against Lee's nephew, Lee pointed out, "My older brother and his wife learned about it through multiple contacts with her, but what she said differs somewhat from the objective facts I know."
After Lee's interview was made public, Kim rebutted, saying, "I have never met or contacted the late older brother Lee Jae-seon even once. The expression 'older brother and his wife' is false," and added, "I met sister-in-law Park only once in July 2018 in Jirisan with former lawmaker Kim Young-hwan and others. The phrase 'multiple times' is a lie."
Kim also cites the 'nephew' issue as evidence supporting her claim that she was in a romantic relationship with Lee from 2007 for about a year. According to Kim, Lee confided in her about family matters that had never been publicly disclosed. She claimed Lee approached her pretending to be a 'fake bachelor.'
She emphasized, "It was not Park who told me about the nephew's criminal facts. On the contrary, I asked Park, 'Is that incident true?' Park said it was true and even said the nephew had killed more than one person."
Kim stated, "We need to find out whether Lee Jae-myung never visited his nephew at that time or if he visited later," and added, "Wrapping this up on a terrestrial radio program with the false explanation that 'older brother and his wife told me' is shirking responsibility. This lie is also an act of selling out the honor of the older brother and his wife to become president."
Meanwhile, Kim expressed displeasure toward Kim Hyun-jung, the host of CBS Kim Hyun-jung's News Show, saying, "Three years ago, reporter Kim Hyun-jung only reported Lee Jae-myung's one-sided statements and still does not give me a chance to respond," and asked, "Kim Hyun-jung, are you really a reporter?"
