Seoul Museum of History to Host Online 'Barrier-Free Cinema' Screenings for Visually Impaired from July to October

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Museum of History's barrier-free cinema screenings for the second half of the year are set to begin.

On the 15th, the Seoul Museum of History announced that from July to October, barrier-free films will be screened online every fourth Thursday of the month at 2 PM to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The first screening of the second half, on the 22nd, will feature the barrier-free version of "Boy Choir," directed by Shin Dong-il and narrated by actress Lee Il-hwa, available to watch online.

Four barrier-free version film screenings are scheduled at the museum's barrier-free cinema in the second half of the year. Besides "Boy Choir" on the 22nd, on August 26th, a documentary titled "Kim Bok-dong," which portrays history that must not be forgotten in commemoration of Liberation Day, will be shown. On September 23rd, "The Guest in the Sarangbang and Mother," a film adaptation of a short story by writer Jo Oh-seop, will be screened. On Thursday, October 28th, "All the Desserts in the World: Love Sarah," set in Notting Hill, UK, showcasing a feast of diverse cultures and cuisines, will be presented.

Applications for July viewing can be made through the Seoul Public Service Reservation starting from the 19th on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 100 people. Admission is free. Those who reserve will receive a separate text message with the movie viewing link the day before the screening, and the film will be available for viewing within 24 hours.

Baek Hyun-sook, director of the Seoul Museum of History, said, “Through the Seoul Museum of History's barrier-free cinema, we hope all citizens, regardless of disability, can enjoy movies together.”
