[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] SSG.com announced on the 15th that it will participate in the 'ONETHEPL Campaign Season 2,' jointly conducted with Emart, Coca-Cola Korea, TerraCycle, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The campaign, which stands for 'using plastic (PL) one (ONE) more (THE) time,' is an eco-friendly resource circulation activity that collects and recycles waste plastic. It will be held in three phases: July 19 to August 1, August 23 to September 5, and September 27 to October 10.
During this period, SSG.com will provide customers who participate in the waste plastic collection activity with a reward of a 'Coca-Cola Albi Bag.' The first round of participation applications will be accepted for two weeks from the 19th to the 1st of next month. Selected customers through a lottery will fill a 'zero waste collection box,' which will be sent by courier, with clean and dried transparent beverage PET bottles. Collection applications will be available from August 3, and the reward Albi Bags are planned to be shipped sequentially from the end of August.
The Coca-Cola Albi Bag is made from recycled fabric using waste plastic, reflecting the campaign's purpose. Its size has been reduced to 60% (16ℓ) compared to the existing Albi Bag capacity (40ℓ), making it a convenient size to carry. A total of 4,200 bags will be provided, 1,400 per round.
Instead of the previous method of giving Albi Bags to new customers or those who purchase above a certain amount, SSG.com has adopted a reward system for customers participating in eco-friendly activities for the first time. This aims to raise awareness among customers about environmental protection through plastic recycling and Albi Bag use, and to allow them to directly experience SSG.com’s eco-friendly delivery service.
Since launching dawn delivery at the end of June 2019, SSG.com introduced the reusable insulated bag 'Albi Bag' and has been giving it as a gift to customers. Through regular collaborations with famous brands such as Kitty Bunny Pony (KBP), H?agen-Dazs, Starbucks, WWF, and Kiehl’s, SSG.com has produced 'Albi Bag Special Editions,' conducting unique eco-friendly marketing.
Kim Hyo-eun, head of SSG.com’s brand marketing team, said, "Considering the consumer trend moving beyond eco-friendliness to essential environmental consciousness, we thought of the Albi Bag made from waste plastic created together with customers." She added, "As various Coca-Cola goods have gained great popularity, the Coca-Cola Albi Bag is also expected to receive high praise for its design reflecting the brand’s personality and its practicality for summer use."
