[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] LG Electronics announced on the 15th that it will introduce the new concept wireless private screen "LG StanbyMe," which can be moved around the house to freely adjust the screen position and enjoy video content. LG Electronics described the product as targeting customers who want to spend time just for themselves in their own space.
Unlike conventional TVs, this product features moving wheels at the bottom, allowing it to be moved and used in desired locations such as the bedroom, kitchen, or study. It is equipped with a built-in battery that enables up to 3 hours of use without being connected to a power source.
LG StanbyMe allows the screen position to be adjusted according to the viewing posture. It is equipped with a 27-inch screen with a diagonal length of approximately 68 cm and supports swivel functions that adjust the screen left and right forward and backward up to 65 degrees, tilt functions that tilt up and down up to 25 degrees, and rotating functions that rotate clockwise and counterclockwise up to 90 degrees. The height can also be adjusted up to 20 cm.
LG StanbyMe is equipped with webOS 6.0, the same operating system as the 2021 LG TV models. When customers connect the product to the internet, they can access all content available on the latest LG TVs, including LG Channels (providing a total of 144 free channels in Korea), a free channel service. The AI Home Board also allows users to check and control the operating status of home appliances.
This product can be operated not only with a remote control but also by touching the screen with a finger. Unlike TVs, which are often viewed by multiple people, this product is aimed at individual users and features a dedicated user interface (UI) that enables simple operation. It also supports swipe gesture controls for screen navigation.
It includes a sharing tab function that links with the latest Android OS-based smartphones using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. A smartphone holder can be attached to the back of the screen to secure the smartphone, enabling live broadcasts, video calls, video conferences, and online classes. Screen sharing with peripheral devices, including laptops, is possible via wired and wireless connections.
LG Electronics explained that the new product has won main awards at the Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award, two of the world's top three design awards.
The LG StanbyMe's retail price is 1.29 million KRW. LG Electronics will start pre-orders for the new concept wireless private screen LG StanbyMe through its online brand shop and major online shopping malls from the 21st.
Meanwhile, from the 15th, LG Electronics will set up LG StanbyMe display zones at 11 LG Best Shops, including The Hyundai Seoul, Lotte Department Store Gangnam Branch, Gangseo Main Branch, Geumcheon Main Branch, Bongcheon Branch, Bulgwang Main Branch, Ssangmun Main Branch, Seocho Main Branch, Incheon Bupyeong-gu Office Branch, Gyeonggi Ilsan Main Branch, and Busan Sasang Main Branch. Starting from the 16th, a lifestyle exhibition introducing LG StanbyMe to MZ generation customers will be held for two weeks at Ilsangbiilsangui Teum, a complex cultural space near Gangnam Station.
Kim Sunhyung, Head of Korea HE Marketing at LG Electronics, said, "Through LG StanbyMe, a new form factor that did not exist before, we will lead the customer lifestyle that desires their own screen in their own space."
