Haesung Optics Signs Business Agreement with Izmedia on Inspection Equipment and Metaverse Collaboration

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Haesung Optics announced on the 14th that it has signed a business agreement with Izmedia, a manufacturer of CCM (Compact Camera Module) process and inspection automation equipment, to mutually cooperate in advancing inspection equipment and jointly developing XR (Extended Reality) devices and content.

Through this agreement, the two companies plan to build infrastructure for the metaverse business. Haesung Optics intends to enter the metaverse market by utilizing XR devices based on the 3D TOF technology of Izmedia and the medical 3D software of J&d, with which it recently signed a contract.

A representative from Haesung Optics stated, “Haesung Optics will cooperate in advancing Izmedia’s related inspection equipment based on its mobile lens and camera module development and production know-how, and jointly develop XR devices and content integrated with 3D software. Through this business agreement, both companies will become good partners in entering the XR market.”

Izmedia plans to appoint Randy Zuckerberg, the elder sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, as a non-executive director. Randy Zuckerberg currently serves as the CEO of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) platform. She will serve as Izmedia’s overseas marketing head and strategic advisor in the future. Haesung Optics expects business cooperation with Oculus, a subsidiary of Facebook, through this collaboration with Izmedia.

Recently, Oculus, a subsidiary of Facebook, has recorded over half of the market share in the XR headset market, accelerating the spread of XR devices. This has drawn attention to content such as fitness (healthcare), gaming, virtual office environments, and communities.

Haesung Optics has secured camera lens technology, a key technology for content, and is developing 3D software technology. It is expected to start entering the medical 3D software market and engage in the development of various XR content in the future.
