Grand Prize and Encouragement Award Won at Startup Competition Utilizing Content to Revitalize Jeju Tourism
A student team from Dongseo University won the grand prize and an encouragement award at the content utilization startup competition held to promote tourism in Jeju Island.

When four universities in South Korea were assigned a project on tourism travel and gourmet trips in Jeju Island, the "special island nation," the "mainland universities" topped the list according to the islanders' words.
At the "Content Utilization Startup Competition for Revitalizing Jeju Tourism," involving four universities?Dongseo University, Dongmyung University, Konkuk University Glocal Campus, and Jeju Tourism University?the Dongseo University team won the grand prize and an encouragement award.
The Dongseo University Shelter Team (Lee Sung-joo from the Global Business College, Ko Sung-yeon from the College of Design) took the grand prize. The Dageumbari Team (Seo In-hee from the College of Design, Lee Kyung-wook from the College of Software Convergence) also received an encouragement award.
The competition was held in two categories: "Tour" and "Daesulreong." The team that effectively promoted Jeju Island's unique features to tourists won.
Ten teams from each university participated. The allotted time was 10 hours. A total of 40 teams and 80 students from four universities showcased their skills. Local research and experiences were left to their discretion.
The content uploaded online went through preliminary rounds, and two representative teams from each university were selected to compete again in the finals.
Lee Jung-wook, head of the Startup Education Center at Jeju Tourism University and a judge, expressed amazement, saying, "The Shelter Team, which won the grand prize, created unique content about Jeju Island that is difficult for tourists to know and even residents tend to forget."
Jo Dae-soo, director of the LINC+ Project Group at Dongseo University, said, "We expect that the idea content seen through the eyes of students will help revitalize Jeju tourism."
Jo also stated, "We plan to continuously accumulate ideas to support youth enterprises and small business owners and expand not only in Jeju but also to other regions."
