"Chungcheong Will Decide Primary Direction" Yang Seung-jo, Governor of Chungnam, Declares Support for Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Yang Seung-jo, Governor of Chungnam Province, officially declared his support for Jeong Se-gyun, former Prime Minister and presidential candidate of the Democratic Party.

On the 13th, Governor Yang announced that he met with former Prime Minister Jeong along with about 40 supporters to declare his support. Yang said, "Many people who supported me have gathered, and I am truly sorry for failing in the preliminary primary," adding, "Helping candidate Jeong Se-gyun is helping me, Jeong Se-gyun's victory is my victory, and it is the victory of our Chungcheong region."

Previously, Governor Yang had launched a presidential bid but was eliminated in the Democratic Party's preliminary primary cutoff. He continued, "Just as you helped me, please unite and support candidate Jeong Se-gyun," urging, "Turn the tide now and make him the Democratic Party candidate." Yang added, "As the Democratic Party's presidential primary vote counting begins in the Chungcheong region, the flow from Chungcheong will influence the direction of the primary," and "A whirlwind of change and reversal will begin blowing from Chungcheong."

Former Prime Minister Jeong said, "The SJK alliance (Yang Seung-jo (SJ) + Jeong Se-gyun (SK)) will not just be about who helps whom, but will create a partnership," and added, "Let's make the SJK alliance a success."
