[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On the 12th, the first tropical night appeared in Seoul.

The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that the first tropical night occurred as the minimum temperature stayed above 25 degrees Celsius overnight in Seoul and various parts of the country. This year's first tropical night in Seoul is 23 days earlier than last year (August 4).

With daytime temperatures remaining above 30 degrees Celsius, warm air accumulated, and due to cloudy weather overnight, the temperature did not drop, resulting in a tropical night.

A tropical night refers to a phenomenon where the minimum temperature remains above 25 degrees Celsius from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day.

As of 7 a.m., regions recording tropical nights and their temperatures (℃) are ▲Seoul 26.3 ▲Incheon 26.0 ▲Suwon 25.2 ▲Daejeon 25.4 ▲Cheongju 26.3 ▲Gwangju 25.5 ▲Jeonju 25.4 ▲Mokpo 25.5 ▲Yeosu 25.7 ▲Gochang 25.3 ▲Boseong-gun 25.3 ▲Jangheung 25.0 ▲Jindo-gun 25.0 ▲Busan 25.1 ▲Changwon 25.2 ▲Pohang 25.9 ▲Tongyeong 25.0 ▲Geoje 25.9 ▲Namhae 25.3 ▲Jeju 26.5 ▲Gosan 25.8 ▲Seongsan 25.5 ▲Seogwipo 26.2.

The tropical night record may change if the temperature drops below 25 degrees Celsius before 9 a.m.

On this day, heatwave warnings were in effect in most parts of the country, and daytime temperatures are expected to rise above 32 degrees Celsius until the 15th. Due to high humidity, the perceived temperature will be above 33 degrees Celsius, rising above 35 degrees Celsius in some southern regions and central inland areas, making it very hot. The Korea Meteorological Administration urged special caution for health management as tropical nights may occur overnight in some areas.
