[Asia Economy Senior Reporter Jinsoo Lee] By the end of this century, marriages between humans and robots are expected to be considered commonplace, according to a recent claim.

Dr. David Levy (76), a British international chess champion and artificial intelligence expert, predicted during an interview with the tabloid newspaper Daily Star ahead of the ‘6th International Conference on Love and Sex with Robots’ to be held online from the 18th to the 21st of next month, that "in 30 years, it will become common for humans to have sexual relations with robots."

Dr. Levy, author of the 2007 book ‘Love and Sex with Robots,’ explained, "There will also be people who completely sever relationships with others because they will prefer cyborgs over humans."

Specializing in social robotics engineering, Dr. Levy pointed out that the increasing number of countries allowing same-sex marriage suggests that marriage between humans and robots is not an impossible concept.

He foresaw that sex robots will become highly intelligent, with their ‘personality’ evolving, enabling complex conversations between humans and robots. Furthermore, he added that AI robots will replace sex workers and provide significant assistance to those struggling with human relationships. Ultimately, Dr. Levy believes humans will fall in love with robots and engage in sexual relations with them.

He asserted, "By around 2050, very sophisticated sex robots will emerge, and 50 years after that, there will be people who say they have ‘fallen in love with a robot’ and are even ‘considering marriage.’"

In 2017, Professor Levy spoke as a lecturer at the ‘3rd International Conference on Love and Sex with Robots’ held in London, UK, where he announced that in the future, human and robot DNA will combine to create hybrid species. This is a radical claim based on the advancement trends in stem cell and artificial chromosome technologies, suggesting that it will be possible for humans and robots to have children. Notable research is being conducted in fields such as stem cells, biological nanotechnology, and robotic genetics, and by utilizing these technologies, the birth of children from humans and robots could become a reality.
