[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 12th that it has issued an 'administrative order' banning outdoor drinking in urban parks and will impose a fine of 100,000 won for violations.
This is a follow-up measure in accordance with the government's strengthened quarantine measures for the metropolitan area.
According to the administrative order, drinking is prohibited outdoors from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in 310 urban parks and other outdoor areas within the jurisdiction. This order will remain in effect until it is separately lifted.
If someone disobeys the administrative order and drinks outdoors, they will be warned the first time, and from the second time onward, a fine of 100,000 won will be imposed according to relevant laws.
Yongin City has organized a crackdown team of 69 people, including public officials and park managers, to urge citizens to comply with quarantine rules and conduct special inspections.
Twenty-two parks with many users, such as Dongbaek Lake Park and Sinjeong Culture Park, will be closely monitored.
The main inspection items are whether drinking occurs in the park after 10 p.m. and compliance with quarantine rules, including wearing masks.
A city official said, "The situation is very serious, with social distancing in the metropolitan area elevated to level 4," and urged, "Please actively cooperate with the ban on outdoor drinking in parks after 10 p.m. in accordance with the strengthened quarantine measures."
