[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] Mirae Asset Securities, Mirae Asset Life Insurance, and Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on the 12th that they will jointly host the '2021 Financial Big Data Festival.'
Now in its 5th year, the Mirae Asset Financial Big Data Festival is the first data analysis competition in the financial investment industry. Following Mirae Asset Life Insurance's participation last year, Mirae Asset Global Investments joined this year, establishing the festival as a representative event of the Mirae Asset Financial Group.
The Mirae Asset Financial Big Data Festival is open to all university and graduate students. Participants can apply individually or in teams of up to three by submitting an application form on the competition website. Using the data released on the 26th, participants select one or more of the three tasks and submit their results by September 30.
First, Mirae Asset Securities' task is 'Next m.club I Create.' This task involves profiling customers' transaction patterns, asset holdings, and service usage history to propose necessary services through data scientific inquiry methods.
Mirae Asset Life Insurance's task is 'Variable Fund Keyword-Based Visualization.' Using actual customer contract information, basic fund information, and trading data, this visualization task explains and recommends the characteristics of variable funds that meet the needs of variable insurance policyholders.
Mirae Asset Global Investments' task is 'Development of Investment Strategies Based on TIGER Exchange-Traded Funds (ETF).' This task involves analyzing information on ETF products, market data, and macroeconomic data to develop data-driven investment strategy algorithms.
Based on submissions by September 30, a total of 18 teams (6 teams per task) will advance to the semifinals, and through final report evaluations, 6 teams (2 teams per task) will proceed to the finals. Each team will experience practical work through mentoring provided by the financial data analysis departments and collaboratively prepare reports to determine the final rankings.
All 6 finalist teams will be exempt from document screening when applying for positions at Mirae Asset Securities, and the first-place team for each task will be offered internship opportunities at Mirae Asset Securities, Mirae Asset Life Insurance, and Mirae Asset Global Investments. Prize money will be awarded as follows: 1 grand prize team receives 20 million KRW, 2 excellence award teams receive 5 million KRW each, 3 merit award teams receive 3 million KRW each, and 12 encouragement award teams receive 1 million KRW each.
