Among 649 Best Practices from 243 Local Governments Nationwide, Seocho-gu Leads with 110 Cases... Seocho-gu Wins National Gold Medal for Unique Innovation Cases Across Various Fields... Ministry of the Interior Selects 2 Seocho-gu Cases Among 34 Best Practices in the 2021 Resident Life Innovation Expansion Support Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) has been selected for the highest number of 110 "excellent innovation cases" nationwide among a total of 649 outstanding cases from 243 local governments in the 'Government Innovation 1st Street' operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as a result of continuously promoting innovative administration despite the COVID-19 crisis.
The district currently accounts for 17% of the total registered cases nationwide, maintaining a dominant lead in first place.
'Government Innovation 1st Street' is a representative government innovation platform that shares government innovation materials and best practices from pan-government agencies to promote the sharing and dissemination of government innovation. The 'Government Innovation Case Map' features certified excellent innovation cases from central and local governments nationwide.
A representative innovative case of the district is the crosswalk shade shelters called ‘Seoripul Wondumak’ spread across the country.
Other examples include ▲ the ‘Runway-type Crosswalk’ with LED guide lights that shine brightly at night to significantly reduce nighttime traffic accidents ▲ the ‘Seocho Book Payback Service,’ a library-like service allowing local bookstores to be used as living libraries ▲ the ‘Support for Independent Living of Children Aging Out at 18’ program assisting children who have left child welfare facilities or whose foster care has ended ▲ ‘Seoripul Saem,’ which addresses educational inequality for children and youth from low-income vulnerable groups ▲ the ‘Seocho-type Shared Daycare Center,’ which combines different childcare facilities such as public, private, and home daycare centers to drastically reduce waiting times for child admission ▲ the ‘Mobile CCTV Video Provision System’ that allows mobile requests for CCTV footage needed for crime investigations ▲ and excellent cases with high public satisfaction such as the COVID-19 vaccine reporting app and call center operation.
In particular, the runway-type crosswalk and the Book Payback Service were selected as excellent cases in the '2021 Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project' operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. This project supports the dissemination of excellent local government cases that enhance resident convenience to other local governments. Among a total of 34 excellent cases, Seocho-gu had two selected, becoming an exemplary model that can be expanded nationwide.
Seocho-gu Mayor Eunhee Jo said, “Like the last 1℃ that boils water at 99℃, the power of administration that reads the residents’ hearts has led to these achievements,” and added, “I hope Seocho’s advanced innovative administration spreads widely to many local governments across the country. We will continue to actively discover and promote innovative changes that enhance the value of residents’ lives.”
