[Photo] Dongjin Lee, Dobong-gu Mayor, Holds Emergency Meeting to Block COVID-19 Spread in Seoul Metropolitan Area

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] On the afternoon of the 9th, Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, held an 'Emergency Countermeasure Meeting on the Spread of COVID-19 in the Seoul Metropolitan Area' at the district office's CR Hall, with all department heads participating.

During the emergency countermeasure meeting, there was intensive discussion on the quarantine measures by each department to block the current spread, which is the greatest crisis since the domestic outbreak of COVID-19.

At the meeting, Mayor Lee Dong-jin received reports on the trend of confirmed cases and management status in Dobong-gu, and reviewed measures including △ the installation of an additional temporary screening clinic at the underpass plaza of Exit 1 of Changdong Station following the elevation to Level 4 △ extension of operating hours of the public health center's screening clinic △ operation of joint inspection teams to check nighttime quarantine rules around Changdong Station, Dobongsan Riverside Park, Jungnangcheon, Uicheon, and park areas △ enforcement of strengthened administrative sanctions during inspections of multi-use facilities’ quarantine rules according to the revised Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act enforcement regulations.

In particular, Mayor Lee pointed out that the recent six major quarantine measures of Seoul City excluded the strengthening of epidemiological investigations, raising the issue of the need for active measures to enhance epidemiological investigations to Seoul City.

Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “With Seoul’s confirmed cases exceeding 500 for three consecutive days and Level 4 social distancing starting from the 12th, it is a very serious situation. I urge public officials to actively engage in preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases to ensure no violations of social distancing occur in the public sector.”
