[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Some matches in Hokkaido for the Tokyo Olympics will be held without spectators.
According to Kyodo News on the 10th, the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee announced last night that all men's and women's soccer group stage matches scheduled at the Sapporo Dome stadium in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, will be held without spectators.
The organizing committee had previously stated on the afternoon of the 9th that matches starting during daytime would allow up to 10,000 spectators, within 50% of the stadium's capacity, but ultimately changed this policy.
Earlier, the organizing committee announced that matches in the four metropolitan local governments?Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa, and Chiba prefectures?where about 80% of all venues are located, would be held without spectators.
As the no-spectator policy spreads, only 29 out of the total 750 sessions of tickets remain valid, with approximately 96% of sessions expected to be held without spectators.
