[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Izmedia announced on the 9th that it has signed a strategic Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the comprehensive entertainment company Studio Santa Claus to secure content IP (intellectual property).
Through this agreement, Izmedia plans to acquire Studio Santa Claus's proprietary content and IP and utilize them in the NFT (non-fungible token) sector. In particular, the strategy is to produce competitive NFTs in various fields such as NFT content related to affiliated celebrities, produced dramas and films, music albums, and broadcasting channels, driving revenue growth for both companies.
Studio Santa Claus was established in 2005 as Sim Entertainment. The company focuses on talent management and content production including dramas, films, and webtoons. It manages approximately 60 affiliated celebrities, including Joo Won, Kim Yoon-seok, Soo Ae, and Yoo Hae-jin.
Produced dramas include SBS's Mask in 2015, SBS's My Sassy Girl, MBC's Lucky Romance, MBC's Ruler: Master of the Mask, and 20th Century Boy and Girl. Recently, the company has expanded into global OTT (over-the-top internet video service) drama production and completed the production of the Netflix original drama "Undercover," starring actors Han So-hee and Ahn Bo-hyun this year.
An Izmedia official stated, "We have steadily prepared for new blockchain-based businesses and are proceeding as planned to secure content such as IOK and Studio Santa Claus," adding, "The establishment of additional cooperative relationships is also gaining momentum, and we expect to secure IP from various companies soon."
He continued, "This achievement was gained by quickly understanding the early-stage NFT market with field experts and making bold investments," emphasizing, "Starting with collaboration with domestic companies, we plan to lead the global NFT market."
