[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Kim Namguk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, fiercely criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's remarks regarding the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, saying, "He seems to have no thoughts at all."
On the 8th, Kim posted on his Facebook under the title "You cannot become president by cramming," criticizing, "He seems far worse than former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye."
He said, "Despite ongoing rallies and protests nationwide against Japan's radioactive nuclear wastewater discharge, such a level of awareness is truly shocking," and added, "Rather than expecting deep consideration and high-level insight on various social issues, he just seems to have no thoughts at all."
He continued, "The biggest cause is a lack of study," pointing out, "Because he opposes the government unconditionally without any logic."
He then raised his voice again, saying, "It is difficult to ask him about the future vision and strategy of the Republic of Korea. It seems hard to expect anything more from him."

Earlier, on the 6th, after a meeting at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, former Prosecutor General Yoon commented on the Fukushima contaminated water discharge, saying, "In the past, it was not a big issue, and it is not a matter to be viewed politically each time."
As criticism from ruling party figures poured in, Yoon's side explained, "This was a reference to Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa's response during the National Assembly audit on October 26 last year, stating that the treatment of contaminated water is a sovereign decision of Japan."
They added, "After our Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they would not raise the issue, they recently changed their stance and raised concerns again, demanding verification. This raises the question of whether we are failing to obtain cooperation from the Japanese government for transparent verification."
