[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ‘480-yard long drive’.

It is the incredible power of ‘Hulk’ Bryson DeChambeau (USA). On the 7th (Korean time) at Moonlight Basin Golf Course in Big Sky, Montana, USA, during the 2-on-2 event ‘The Match,’ he showcased an astonishing long drive flying 480 yards. Teaming up with 2020 NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), they defeated the oldest major champion Phil Mickelson (USA) and NFL Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by 3 holes.

Moonlight Basin Golf Course is located at an altitude of 2,300 meters, making the driving distance much farther than on flat ground. The highlight was DeChambeau’s driver tee shot on the 8th hole (par 5, 777 yards). He sent the ball an incredible 480 yards. He joked, "It’s the longest driver shot I’ve ever hit," but added, "I thought I would surpass 500 yards, so I’m a bit disappointed." He tried again, saying, "I will challenge 500 yards," but the ball went far off the fairway.

On the 3rd hole (par 4, 393 yards), DeChambeau used a 3-wood and reached the green in one shot. Brady also succeeded in a ‘1-on’ with a driver tee shot here. The match was decided by Rodgers’ outstanding performance. In the best ball format (where each player hits and the better ball position is chosen for the next play), Rodgers’ ball was often selected. Rodgers cheered after making a decisive birdie on the 16th hole.

The Match started in 2018. At that time, Mickelson and ‘Golf Emperor’ Tiger Woods (USA) faced off one-on-one. Mickelson was the winner. In the second tournament in May 2020, Brady and former NFL player Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos) joined. Woods and Manning defeated Mickelson and Brady. Last November, Mickelson invited NBA stars Charles Barkley and Stephen Curry (Golden State). Mickelson-Barkley defeated Curry-Manning.
