[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Melon Company announced on the 7th that its music platform Melon will be installed in the infotainment system of Genesis electric vehicle model ‘Electrified G80’ through a technology partnership with Hyundai Motor Group.
With this partnership, Genesis users can easily access various Melon features by simply touching the infotainment system screen. Key menus include music search, the popular song chart ‘24hits’, my playlist, latest songs, and ‘Likes’ which shows songs you have liked. Depending on the Melon subscription, users can also listen to high-quality lossless audio files (FLAC).
To use this service, Melon and Genesis’s connected service GCS (Genesis Connected Services) must be linked. Users subscribe to a music streaming data plan through the GCS smartphone application and connect their Melon account. Then, by pressing the ‘Music Streaming’ icon on the infotainment screen to launch Melon for the first time, the ‘Music Streaming’ menu icon changes to the Melon icon, allowing direct access to the Melon player thereafter.
Melon plans to provide a 2-month streaming trial pass to customers who purchase the Electrified G80.
Additionally, through software updates, the same integration will be applied to other Genesis models.
