[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Lee Myung Construction, which operates the small-scale multi-family housing brand 'Jib&Sa (zipnsa)', announced on the 7th that it won the Encouragement Award at the '2021 Safety and Health Symbiotic Cooperation Program' excellence contest hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and organized by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. This is the first time a small to medium-sized construction company has won a main prize.
Now in its 14th year, this contest was established to enhance the effectiveness of safety and health education conducted at workplaces by discovering excellent external instructors and sharing outstanding teaching materials. The contest, held on the 5th at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in Ilsan in an untact (contactless) format, featured nine finalist teams presenting cases of safety improvements at their respective worksites.
Lee Myung Construction participated with the theme "Manual for Conducting Simulated Training to Prepare for Fall Accidents in Urban-Type Residential Building Construction." Small construction sites with limited space have narrow areas to organize materials and a high risk of accidents caused by falling objects. Considering these site characteristics, Lee Myung Construction received high marks for investigating hazardous factors and practicing preventive activities through simulated training.
CEO Yoo Jin-yeol said, "This achievement was made possible by a strong safety-first management policy, employees leading by example, and continuous communication with partner companies." He added, "It would be even more meaningful if Lee Myung Construction’s teaching materials help ensure compliance with safety rules and prevent accidents at small construction sites where safety management is weak."
