Preventing Outdoor Unit Room Fires at the Source... Hanwha Construction Introduces 'Automatic Louver System' The prototype of the electric louver system for air conditioner outdoor units jointly developed by Hanwha Construction and Geumgang System Housing Co., Ltd.

Hanwha Construction announced on the 7th that it will introduce the 'Electric Louvers System for Air Conditioner Outdoor Units' in Hanwha FORENA apartments. The electric louvers system is designed so that the louvers of the outdoor unit room automatically open when the air conditioner is turned on and close when it is turned off, effectively managing cooling performance degradation and fire risks during the summer.

Previously, when the louvers of the air conditioner outdoor unit room had to be opened and closed manually, they were often left open throughout the summer, exposing the outdoor unit to dust and rain. If the air conditioner was operated without opening the louvers by mistake, the outdoor unit room would quickly fill with heat, sometimes leading to fires.

Since early 2020, Hanwha Construction and Geumgang System Housing Co., Ltd. have jointly developed the electric louvers system for air conditioner outdoor units and filed a patent earlier this year. The system is designed to sense the current of the outdoor unit when the air conditioner operates and open the louvers to facilitate heat dissipation. In particular, even if the current sensing device malfunctions, a temperature sensor activates to automatically open the louvers when the temperature in the outdoor unit room rises, providing a safety mechanism.

Last month, the system successfully passed a durability test of 30,000 open-and-close cycles, and after additional testing, it will be selectively applied to future FORENA complexes for sale.

Yoon Yong-sang, Head of the Architecture Business Division at Hanwha Construction, said, "This product was developed to prevent fire risks caused by air conditioner use and to provide a comfortable living environment. We will expand its application to future Hanwha FORENA developments and continue to develop safety-related technologies."

Meanwhile, Hanwha Construction launched the new residential brand FORENA in August 2019 and has developed and applied various new safety products such as FORENA safety doors (to prevent finger pinching) and safety glass doors (to prevent scattering upon breakage).
