Starbucks Implements 'No Disposable Cup Stores' in Jeju Starting Today Photo by Starbucks

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Starbucks Korea announced that starting from the 6th, four stores in the Jeju area will begin operating as disposable cup-free stores as part of their eco-friendly activities.

The Starbucks disposable cup-free stores are Jeju Seohaean-ro DT Branch, Jeju Aewol DT Branch, Jeju Chilseong Branch, and Jeju Hyeopjae Branch. At these stores, all beverages are served in mugs, personal cups, or reusable cups.

Customers can use reusable cups by paying a deposit of 1,000 KRW when purchasing a beverage. Used reusable cups can be returned at the four Jeju stores or at the reusable cup return machines located at Jeju Airport.

When cups are returned, the deposit is refunded to consumers in cash, Starbucks card balance, or Happy Habit points. However, damaged cups cannot be returned, and this can be confirmed through messages on the return machine.

Currently, there are 23 Starbucks stores operating in the Jeju area. Through the operation of these four stores, Starbucks Korea will continuously improve any areas that need enhancement and plans to expand the disposable cup-free store system to all stores in the Jeju area by October.
