[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Mesh Korea (CEO Yoo Jung-beom), operator of 'Boorung,' announced on the 6th that it will participate in the 'Gyeongbuk Smart Green Logistics Project' promoted by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government. Mesh Korea has been selected as a leading company for Micro Fulfillment Centers (MFC) in this project and plans to directly operate as the main operator of MFCs within the regulatory free zone in the future.
The 'Gyeongbuk Smart Green Logistics Project' promoted by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government is a project to build, operate, and demonstrate urban logistics centers in a 73.8㎢ area including Yulgok-dong and Hwanggeum-dong in Gimcheon City, designated as a Smart Green Logistics Regulatory Free Zone. Mesh Korea plans to establish an MFC on the Yulgok-dong site and strengthen the logistics network infrastructure within Gimcheon city. The MFC will provide digital integrated logistics services such as AI-based inventory management, online order linkage, sorting, packaging, and returns for small and medium-sized merchants based on an IT-based digital logistics system.
To achieve carbon neutrality, it will also engage in eco-friendly delivery in cooperation with partners. The current 1-ton diesel cargo trucks used for short-distance urban logistics delivery will be replaced with three-wheeled electric bicycles to closely verify urban delivery performance. The project demonstration also aims to create local jobs centered on residents by utilizing electric bicycles available for anyone to use.
Choi Byung-jun, Head of Operations at Mesh Korea, said, "This project, involving the country's top innovative companies, is an opportunity to showcase IT-based eco-friendly integrated logistics service capabilities," adding, "We will use this opportunity to enhance the training of our professionals, improve the operational quality of quick commerce infrastructure, and demonstrate Boorung's digital innovation capabilities."
