[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 5th, Pohang City held a certificate awarding ceremony for the '2021 Newly Designated Promising Small Giants' at the POSCO International Hall.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor Kangdeok Lee, Chairman Haejong Jeong of the Pohang City Council, Chairman Kilyong Kim of the Promising Small Giants Association, Chairman Kangso Company Growth Committee Kanghoon Baek, heads of local R&D institutions, and about 80 others.
Earlier, a total of 37 companies applied for the Promising Small Giants selection announced by Pohang City in April. Among them, after going through step-by-step in-depth procedures such as qualification requirements and financial soundness, on-site evaluation, CEO presentation evaluation, and comprehensive evaluation by the Small Giants Growth Committee, a total of 11 new companies were finally selected.
The selected excellent and promising small giants are ▲Jeilsangi (CEO Sangkyu Park) ▲Hanseung Chemical (CEO Sangsoo Kim) ▲Samsung (CEOs Yeonsuk Im and Hongjung Nam) ▲HK Solution (CEO Gieop Shin) ▲Taeyoung Electric (CEO Jonghwa Lee) ▲Saetek (CEO Taeseok Lee) ▲AN Poly (CEO Sangchul Noh) ▲Resingers (CEO Jongguk Kim) ▲Metaz (CEO Seongik Yang) ▲Deck (CEO Minyoung Ahn) ▲Dongsung Shipbuilding (CEO Suhwan Kim).
Companies selected as promising small giants will receive direct support such as customized packages according to growth roadmaps, expanded support for global market entry, and dedicated PM (Project Manager) matching, as well as linked support including preferential support for SME operating funds.
Mayor Kangdeok Lee emphasized, "We plan to further accelerate the development of Pohang City's new growth engine industries and focus all administrative power on revitalizing the local economy," adding, "We ask for the many roles and responsibilities of small giants for the development of the local community in the future."
Meanwhile, Pohang City has designated 81 companies with high growth potential in the region so far and is supporting various programs.
