Kona I, Instant Cashback on Orders, Launches 'Baedal e-eum' Public Delivery Service Based on Incheon Local Currency

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Kona I, the operator of Incheon City’s local currency, announced on the 5th that it will officially launch the public delivery service 'Baedal e-eum' in 10 districts of Incheon City and hold a commemorative event.

Baedal e-eum is a public delivery service introduced to resolve the commission imbalance in the delivery order market, which is monopolized by the top three companies with over 98%. It is embedded within the Incheon local currency platform Incheon e-eum, so no separate app installation or membership registration is required. It offers various benefits such as a basic 10% cashback through local currency payment, discounts at 혜택Plus affiliated stores, additional cashback from districts, and coupons.

In particular, by charging a low brokerage fee of 2% (1% in 2021) compared to private delivery apps, it aims to reduce the commission burden on small business owners. It also plans to support sales growth through various merchant support measures such as free coupon provision and free exposure of advertising content for registered merchants.

Additionally, to protect merchants from malicious reviews on delivery apps and provide consumer choice indicators, the 'Kkulmat Evaluation' system was introduced. The Kkulmat Evaluation system minimizes reviews to only Good or Bad in six areas?taste, quantity, hygiene, price, kindness, and delivery?instead of photos or texts, to prevent abuse of star ratings and review systems. The top 50% of merchants in the evaluation receive positive evaluation indicators such as 'Best Kkul Matjip' and 'Kkul Matjip.' The overall review status, including negative evaluations, is delivered only to the merchants to help them improve their services.

Furthermore, to commemorate the launch of Baedal e-eum, the 'Baedal e-eum Kkulmat Evaluation' event will be held until the 31st. Customers who order through Baedal e-eum and participate in the Kkulmat Evaluation will be entered into a draw to win up to 3 million won in Baedal e-eum cash.

Jojung-il, CEO of Kona I, stated, "Baedal e-eum will lower merchant commissions and increase user benefits compared to private delivery apps, creating a delivery app ecosystem where both small business owners and consumers can coexist. We will do our best to ensure Baedal e-eum successfully establishes itself as the national public delivery service."
