Two Senior-Only Content Production Studios Established, One-Stop Support for Content Creation... Recruiting '5070 Creators Season 3', Nurturing Senior Creators from Training to Production Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] There are 19 senior anchors active in Seocho-gu. Senior anchors selected through auditions participate in a series of processes from basic education in content production to practice and production. Because they plan and participate in production themselves, their effort and affection for the results are said to be exceptional.
To improve digital accessibility for the elderly, the district started the 'Smart Senior IT Experience Zone,' where seniors can experience VR, one-person broadcasting, and robots. This year, two new senior-exclusive broadcasting studios were established at Naegok Neutinamu Shelter and Bangbae Senior Welfare Center.
‘Modurak (絡) Studio,’ meaning to connect generations, and ‘Seoripul Studio’ at Bangbae Senior Welfare Center were created to provide a one-stop space for senior creators, offering video shooting, editing, and education.
Contents produced here are posted on the ‘Seocho Halmahalppai Story’ YouTube channel. The channel has already gained word-of-mouth popularity, with over 3,300 senior subscribers. This is the result of continuously gaining empathy by introducing topics of interest to seniors.
The YouTube channel humorously features seniors ordering macarons using apps and ordering Thai food. It also offers opportunities for intergenerational communication through seniors’ heartfelt stories, providing friendly and diverse content for the elderly. Currently, 1,761 themed videos including senior activity diaries, nostalgic music boxes, talk shows, informatization videos, culture and arts, and language learning are posted, recording 431,425 views.
The district will recruit the 3rd generation of creators in July. Applicants can apply with a one-minute introduction video, and selected participants can join content production education and practice starting in August. They will also receive various services such as YouTuber activity support and mentor connections.
Applications can be submitted to Naegok Neutinamu Shelter.
Meanwhile, Seocho-gu has been conducting various ‘Smart Senior Projects’ to improve digital accessibility and utilization skills for the elderly, including the senior creator project. Since 2019, it has established the nation’s first senior-exclusive IT experience zone, distributed and educated on a patented educational kiosk developed in-house, provided smartphone education through IT supporters, and operated robot classes with AI robots and smart customized care projects using care robots.
Jo Eun-hee, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, “I always respect and support senior creators who are giving positive influence through online communication,” and added, “We will continue to promote projects so that digitally vulnerable groups, including the elderly, can easily access and utilize digital devices.”
