Who Are You Without Carbon? Ulsan City Holds Carbon Neutrality Practice Character Contest

Applications Open Until August 13, Promoting Actions Toward Carbon Neutrality by 2050

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] In its first year toward 'Carbon Zero by 2050,' Ulsan City is seeking a character that embodies carbon neutrality practice.

Ulsan City announced on the 4th that it will hold the 'Ulsan Carbon Neutrality Practice Character Contest,' hosted by the Ulsan Climate and Environment Network, to spread public awareness of carbon neutrality and promote major policies.

Following the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Ulsan Declaration' in February and the 'Global Climate and Energy Market Agreement Membership' in June, the city aims to develop a representative character that can effectively symbolize the image of carbon neutrality.

Citizens aged 9 and older can submit entries individually or as a pair. The submission period is until August 13.

Contest documents, including the application form (available for download on the Ulsan Sustainable Development Council website), should be prepared and submitted to the Ulsan Climate and Environment Network according to the character design specifications.

Submitted works will be reviewed, and winners will be announced in September, followed by an awards ceremony. Awards will be given to a total of five works, divided into Grand Prize, Excellence and Encouragement in the general category, and Excellence and Encouragement in the youth category.

The Grand Prize winner will receive 2 million KRW, two Excellence winners will receive 300,000 KRW each, and two Encouragement winners will receive 200,000 KRW each.

An official from Ulsan City said, "This year marks the first year of practicing 2050 carbon neutrality in response to climate change, and we hope citizens will take great interest and participate together in carbon neutrality."
