28 Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Busan Linked to Emotional Pub Visitors from Seoul

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] In Busan, additional confirmed cases related to a sensory pub visited by a confirmed patient from Seoul continue to emerge, and a cluster infection has also occurred at a private academy.


Busan City announced that from the afternoon of the previous day until the morning of the 3rd, 28 people were newly confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Busan has increased to 6,329.


Among the confirmed cases on this day, 2 were related to the sensory pub in Busanjin-gu, Busan, where 15 people had been confirmed infected until the previous day.


At sensory pub A, which was visited by a confirmed patient from Seoul, one user who was there at the same time and one contact person were additionally confirmed positive.


Thus, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the three sensory pubs in Busanjin-gu, Busan, has increased to 17. Among them, 10 were patrons, 2 were employees, and 5 were contacts. By region, 9 reside in Busan and 8 reside in other cities or provinces.


On this day, a new cluster infection occurred at a private academy in Sasang-gu, Busan. One instructor, four students, and one acquaintance at the academy were confirmed positive.


Health authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations to identify the index patient and the infection route.


Regarding the cluster infection in the fisheries industry, one worker at a workplace where confirmed cases had occurred was confirmed positive while in quarantine. The number of confirmed cases related to fisheries workers has reached 74 across 11 companies (including 16 in Jeonnam).


As confirmed cases in the fisheries industry continue, Busan City health authorities have decided to operate a temporary screening clinic at the Busan Cooperative Fish Market from the 6th to the 12th.


Aside from infections through contact with acquaintances, family, or colleagues, there were 5 cases of infection through contact with confirmed patients from other regions, 5 cases with unknown infection routes, and 1 case of an overseas entrant.


Currently, 288 patients are receiving treatment in Busan, among whom 4 are in critical condition.
