[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating the case involving the younger sister of Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, who has been accused of violating the Medical Service Act and other charges.

According to the police on the 2nd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency assigned the case on the 1st to the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit. The case was filed by the pro-government organization Jeokpae Cheongsan Gukmin Chamyeo Yeondae on the 23rd of last month, accusing Lee’s younger sister of violating the prohibition on disclosure of information under the Medical Service Act and the violation of business secrets under the Criminal Act.

The organization claimed that Lee’s younger sister, a psychiatrist, violated the Medical Service Act by leaking medical information she learned while treating the late Lee Jae-seon (deceased in 2017), the elder brother of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung, to Lee Jun-seok. It is known that Lee Jun-seok appeared on a talk show in 2018 and made remarks to the effect that "Lee Jae-seon received treatment from my sister, and from what I heard, there seemed to be some family discord."

Previously, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency also assigned to the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit a case filed by the same organization accusing Lee Jun-seok of violating the Military Service Act.
