[Asia Economy Reporter Yoonju Hwang] Kolon Industries is launching volunteer activities such as subtitle production to create social value in the local community of Gangseo-gu, where there are many multicultural households and foreign residents.
Kolon Industries announced on the 2nd that it signed a volunteer work agreement (MOU) with the Gangseo-gu Office in Seoul to create social value in harmony with the local community.
The first implementation task of the agreement is to support multilingual subtitle services for 'iGangseoTV,' a promotional channel operated by Gangseo-gu. Kolon Industries plans to provide translation services by having employees proficient in foreign languages participate in subtitle production for the channel, enabling foreign residents in Gangseo-gu to easily access key community information. Previously, the Gangseo-gu Multicultural Family Support Center provided subtitles in limited languages, but Kolon Industries will expand the subtitles to include English, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and other languages to enhance convenience.
Meanwhile, Kolon has contributed to creating social value in unique and differentiated ways by leveraging the group's capabilities. In early 2020, when a nationwide mask shortage occurred due to the global spread of COVID-19, Kolon converted its medical MB (Melt Blown) filter research facilities to produce mask filters, supplying over 2 million filters free of charge. It also built and donated a 24-bed modular negative pressure treatment ward to Seoul National University Hospital to support the shortage of hospital beds.
