Hampyeong-gun Launches On-Site Survey for Systematic Management of Slate Buildings

[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County is launching an on-site survey of slate buildings within the jurisdiction to systematically manage and efficiently address slate building issues.

According to the county on the 2nd, based on the preliminary survey data from the '2021 Slate Building Status Survey' conducted since March using building registers and satellite imagery, on-site investigations will begin this month.

This status survey aims to identify the costs and scale of the 'Slate Removal and Disposal Support and Roof Improvement Support Project' to ensure smooth budget acquisition and project implementation.

The initiative is being promoted to protect residents' health from asbestos, a first-class carcinogen, and to create a safe living environment.

The survey targets slate buildings requiring dismantling and removal, investigating building location, registration status in the building register, owner, building purpose, usage status, building area, slate roof area, and whether the roof has been overlaid.

In particular, the survey plans to cover unregistered buildings that were inadequately surveyed during the 2013 status survey, quantities naturally reduced due to redevelopment or remodeling, and large-scale non-residential slate buildings.

The county will conduct the on-site survey until the end of September and input the results into the Korea Environment Corporation system for utilization.

A county official said, “We ask for the active cooperation of residents to ensure smooth surveys when investigators visit houses, livestock barns, factories, and other locations for the status survey.”
