[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] LVMCHoldings announced on the 1st that it signed an agreement on the 29th of last month after being selected as the priority supplier of garbage trucks by the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia.
The event held in Phnom Penh on the 29th of last month was attended by key figures from various sectors, including H.E Heng Nareth, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia, H.E Chea Sina, Director General, Ms. Kunthea, Head of LVMCHoldings Cambodia Corporation, and Lee Hae-chun, Chief Operating Officer.
Until now, Cambodia managed urban environments by outsourcing garbage truck operations to private companies. Most vehicles were imported as used cars, and the absolute shortage of quantity caused many problems. Going forward, the Ministry of Environment will take the lead in directly managing and operating garbage trucks, and in the bidding process conducted through a closed tender, LVMCHoldings competed closely with ISUZU and ultimately secured the priority supply rights.
Starting with the capital Phnom Penh, there are plans to gradually expand to provinces and small to medium-sized cities. The quantity discussed with the government in the first phase includes 237 Jingaedump trucks, 988 compressed Jingaechas, and 79 hook arm trucks.
After the agreement ceremony on this day, one sample truck each agreed to be supplied was delivered to the Ministry of Environment. According to the company, H.E Heng Nareth, Deputy Minister, and government officials who test-drove the vehicles expressed satisfaction with both the design and performance.
A company official stated, “The Cambodian government’s selection of LVMCHoldings as the priority negotiation partner is the result of LVMCHoldings being recognized for its expertise in the automotive business across countries in the Indochina Peninsula,” adding, “We plan to actively strive to secure priority rights for the Cambodian government’s planned projects related to electric motorcycles, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers by paying close attention not only to quality but especially to after-sales service and parts supply.”
